Joanne Lee

Joanne Lee was a paraprofessional at Coolidge Elementary from 1989 to 2011. She recalls that in 1999, Coolidge received best elementary school in the city.

"We just had a close-knit staff. That’s all I can say, everybody was on the same page, we just loved the kids. I run into past students now and they're always positive thanking me for pushing them to be better. I felt like I had been with the best, worked with the best, and we did our best.”

“I was hurt, I remember they were trying to shut us down for like 3 years and somehow Principal Bracey didn’t let it happen. I can't remember all the details but I’m pretty sure the only reason we shut down is because of enrollment numbers, we didn’t have enough kids. “

"I think it's an honor to Coolidge because in a way it's like its coming back to life.”
